Lillian’s Legacy Project
Lillian creates a one-of-a-kind Legacy Project for her granddaughter.
This concept is unique to EngAGE EnCOURAGE™ and aligns with what we know about creativity and the brain. Creativity is part of what it means to be human. Through years of studies and research, we know that when the mind starts engaging in creative behavior, new combinations of existing ideas, concepts, and memory are created. In other words, creativity creates new brain pathways.
Each EngAGE EnCOURAGE™ class includes a creative or expressive project. These projects are essential for several reasons.
- First, participants are being challenged and encouraged to be creative. The session involves their full being vs. a routine & often dull activity.
- Second, participants receive positive reinforcement for their accomplishments. They use adult materials and create one-of-a-kind projects.
- Third, each project is a “legacy” and can be created as a gift to a friend or family member. Participants have a new purpose in their lives!
- Fourth, participation by intergenerational family members enables them to be creative and enjoy the session with their loved ones.
